Director’s Guild deal gives hope for end to writer’s strike

After six days of negotiations, a three-year deal made by studios and networks with the Directors Guild of America has been reached.

The deal will give a 3 percent raise and increase royalties for movies and showed streamed on the internet.

This agreement isn’t as substantial as the deal the Writer’s Guild of America is asking for but many people in Hollywood feel that this DGA deal could lead to discussions and perhaps a quick resolution between producers and the WGA.
George Clooney a strong supporter of the writers is optimistic about the deal.

"I’m very pleased with the new agreement and I hope it helps speed up the negotiations with the WGA," Clooney said.

Film and TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer told the Los Angeles Times that the DGA deal with put pressure on producers and writers to agree to settles on terms of deals.

"I think there is enormous pressure on everybody to settle this and move on." he said.
